Overview

 SUMMARY

 

The Manager of Human Resources will be responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and administration of all areas of human resources for the retail division, including assessing staffing needs, employee relations, manager education, organizational development, culture and morale, and legal compliance. The Manager of Human Resources will serve as a strategic business partner to the VP of Retail Operations, District Managers and Store Managers and will work collaboratively to coach and counsel regarding the interpretation and application of company policies and procedures as well as state and federal laws. In addition, the HR Manager will improve, design, and implement new and/or enhanced HR policies and procedures in conjunction with the HR team and Head of HR, as well as facilitate the resolution of employee issues and disciplinary matters. The Manager of Human Resources will also partner with management in the assessment, development and administration of learning and development programs.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze current HR practices, identify improvement opportunities, influence management, build consensus and implement change to achieve Hustler Hollywood's vision and goals.

  • Provide recommendations, coaching and advice to the management team regarding the company's strategic and operational direction.

  • Ensure effective new hire orientation and on-boarding for all employees.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and any other employment-related legislative requirements.

  • Recruit/interview applicants for store management positions when needed and assist with managing the recruiting process for sales associates at the store level when needed.

  • Conduct complex investigations covering a wide range of issues and manage complex employee relations' issues including recommendation and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Support and communicate the culture, mission, and vision of the company in order to align employees and effectively and efficiently meet business goals and objectives.

  • Manage retail HR function and work with a team of HR professionals to achieve objectives and process all necessary tasks for the Retail team including new hires, terminations, promotions, salary increases and other status changes.

  • Ensure employees files are created and maintained in compliance with state and federal laws.

  • Process unemployment claims and participate in EDD hearings as needed.

  • Revise and create store and company policies as needed.

  • Interact frequently with all levels of Retail management ensuring company policy is followed at all times and interactions are positive and build trust and value
  • Interact with all levels of HR and Payroll teams, and partner with Head of HR on long term strategy and development
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.

 

  • 5+ years Human Resources generalist or combination generalist/management experience required with multi-site retail company experience highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current employment law and HR best practices.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance employee advocacy with business objectives.

  • Exceptionally strong organizational development and employee relations skills with experience in coaching and mentoring at all levels of an organization.

  • Strong leadership, relationship building, problem solving, and influence skills.

  • Excellent organizational as well as verbal and written communication skills.

 

The following qualifications are highly preferred:

  • Current HR certification (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP/SCP)
  • Experience managing an HR team
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and/or Workforce Manager
  • Experience with Zendesk
  • Experience with ICMS or similar ATS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of products
